Protecting and Restoring Coral Reefs

Hidden beneath the surface of the sea, coral reefs are among the richest ecosystems in the world. They provide marine life with vital habitat and supply communities with food, livelihoods and protection against environmental threats. The Nature Conservancy has been a leader in coral conservation for decades and has established a multifaceted approach to restoring the long-term health of coral reef ecosystems.

Joining the Conservancy in its coral restoration efforts, Bonefish Grill is the first corporate partner to support the Conservancy’s Plant a Million Corals Initiative in Florida and the Caribbean. The initiative seeks to restore more than one million corals across the region’s reefs, as well as share restoration and conservation practices.

Bonefish Grill has a deep passion and commitment to the responsible care of the world’s marine resources. With their support, Bonefish Grill will:

  • Help fund the Conservancy’s coral nurseries and coral restoration efforts in Florida and the Caribbean
  • Increase awareness about the importance of protecting and restoring coral reefs
  • Inspire people to get engaged and take action

Coral reefs are one of the most threatened marine systems. Scientists estimate that unless we take immediate action, we could lose up to 70 percent of coral reefs by 2050.
