Barton's Beach has long served as an important nesting area for turtles.

Visit Barton's Beach Preserve

  • The following activities are prohibited at our nature preserves.

    • Littering. 
    • Moving, removing or damaging plants, animals or rocks.
    • Hunting 
    • Firearms and weapons 
    • Fires
    • Camping (unless specified at an individual preserve)
    • Alcohol
    • Motorized vehicles
    • Unleashed pets
    • Entering areas outside of marked trails
  • The beach at Barton's Beach Preserve is part of the Alabama Scenic River Trail as a paddle in overnight camping spot.

  • Sometimes TNC has to temporarily, and even suddenly, close a nature preserve due to a weather event, flooding or stewardship activities. Please visit this page, or follow us on Facebook, to stay apprised of such closures.
