Cities
Urban conservation work in Connecticut focuses on bringing the benefits of nature into cities. By expanding tree canopy, improving parks, and using nature‑based solutions to address issues like heat, flooding, and air quality, TNC is helping communities build resilience and improve well‑being.
Coasts
A major restoration effort at Rocky Neck State Park is focused on repairing the Bride Brook estuary and the park’s 82 acres of tidal marsh. Decades of restricted tidal flow have degraded this critical habitat, which supports Connecticut’s largest alewife population and protects coastal communities from flooding and storms.
Freshwater
Reconnecting rivers and stream across Connecticut so they can flow more naturally—improving fish passage, strengthening habitats, and reducing flood risks for communities.
Resiliency
Developed in Connecticut in 2009, Community Resilience Building (CRB) brings community members together to identify local vulnerabilities and create actionable, nature‑based resilience plans—an approach now used by more than 500 municipalities and institutions across 14 states.
Preserves
Explore the places TNC protects across Connecticut—from flagship preserves like Sunny Valley, Burnham Brook, and Devil’s Den to a network of scenic forests, tidal marshes, and quiet waterways open for visitors to enjoy.
Volunteer
Volunteers play a vital role in protecting Connecticut’s lands, waters, and wildlife. From trail monitoring and beach cleanups to planting trees and supporting shorebird conservation, there are year‑round ways to get involved and make a local impact.
