Legacy Journeys

Due to the historical high demand and popularity of Legacy Journeys travel opportunities, TNC is piloting a new streamlined and equitable registration process for the 2026 Legacy Journeys.

Legacy Club members who would like to join a 2026 Legacy Journey should submit a Trip Interest Form now through Thursday at September 11, 11:59 p.m. ET.

Unlike prior years, the date and time by which you submit your Trip Interest Form will not impact you chance of being assigned to a trip, as long as you do so by the deadline.

The Trip interest Form will allow you to choose up to three trips you would like to participate in and rank them in order of your preference. After the deadline, a random selection process will be used to place travelers on trips, taking into account your destination preferences. You may be assigned to your second- or third-choice trip if your first choice is already full.

If all of your chosen and ranked trips are full by the time it is your turn to be assigned to a trip, you will be added to the waitlist for each trip of interest.  

After the September 11 deadline, Legacy Club members who are interested in traveling on a Legacy Journey should email LegacyJourneys@tnc.org to be added to a specific journey’s waitlist.

These special adventures are meant for Legacy Club members and their guests only. At this time, they are limited to adults. 

The pricing for each journey is listed in the trip-specific itinerary found on each trip's respective webpage and in the 2026 Legacy Journeys brochure. The prices quoted are estimates and may be different based on taxes and other incidental fees.

The trip cost is not tax-deductible as it covers all the services rendered for your experience. A list of each trip’s cost inclusions can be found on its respective itinerary, but lodging, domestic transportation, activities, meals, TNC expert staff and local guides are often included.

Note: The price does not include your round-trip flights or transportation to the journey's start and end locations.

Trip cancellations are subject to the terms and conditions agreed upon with the relevant tour operator. Please ensure you have carefully read and marked the cancellation dates and penalties before paying your deposit for a departure.

The Nature Conservancy recommends that travelers purchase trip insurance and suggest you talk with the travel operator about insurance options upon registration.

Cancellation terms for each departure can be found below:

The Lodge on Little St. Simons Island | Little St. Simons Island, Georgia

• A deposit of 50% of the full trip cost is due upon registration.
  • Cancellation 90+ days prior to trip start: Deposit is fully refundable, less a $50 cancellation fee.
• Full trip payment is due 90 days prior to trip start.
  • Cancellation 0-89 days prior to trip start: Full deposit is non-refundable.

Pacific Islands Institute | Hawai’i

• A $500 per person deposit is due upon registration.
  •  Cancellation 101 days prior to trip start: Deposit is fully refundable.
• Full trip payment is due 100 days prior to trip start.
  • Cancellation 61-100 days prior to trip start: Full trip cost is refundable, less a $500 per person cancellation fee.
  • Cancellation 31-60 days prior to trip start: Full trip cost is 50% refundable.
  • Cancellation 0-30 days prior to trip start: Full trip cost is non-refundable.

Naturalist Journeys | Coastal Texas

•  A $750 per person deposit is due upon registration.
  • Cancellation 121+ days prior to trip start: Deposit is fully refundable, less a $250 per person cancellation fee (and 3% payment handling fee, if applicable).
• Full trip payment is due 120 days prior to trip start.
  • Cancellation 0-120 days prior to trip start: Full trip cost is non-refundable.

Iconic Adventures | Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, Europe’s Western Balkans & East Tennessee

• A $1,500 per person deposit is due at the time of registration.
  • Cancellation 0-7 days after payment (when booked 7+ days before full payment is due): Deposit is fully refundable, less the credit card processing fee.
  • Cancellation 8-21 days after payment (when booked 8-21 days before full payment is due): Deposit is 50% refundable, less the credit card processing fee. 
  • Cancellation 22+ days after payment: Deposit is non-refundable, less the credit card processing fee.
• Full trip payment is due 150 days prior to trip start.
  • Cancellation 150-136 days prior to trip start: Full trip cost is 50% refundable, less the credit card processing fee.
  • Cancellation 135-0 days prior to trip start: Full trip cost is non-refundable.

Yes! TNC always recommends purchasing travel insurance for our trips. When registering, ask the travel operator for more information about trip insurance.

When considering whether a trip is right for you, look closely at the itinerary and activities involved. Travelers should be able to walk as many as three miles over uneven terrain with some elevation gain.

Some trips may include activities such as boating, snorkeling or swimming. Expect to be outdoors from four to eight hours on most days.

A range of weather conditions is possible during each trip. If you do not wish to participate in an activity, discuss this with the tour operator before the trip, and, if possible, accommodations will be made.
