Join The Nature Conservancy for a thoughtful discussion of nature’s role in alleviating some of these impacts, often from the humblest of solutions like planting trees and maintaining green spaces. We will touch on efforts by a coalition of dedicated partners to improve the quality of life for residents by expanding Newark’s tree canopy, and by building green streets and restoring parks in Paterson. Webinar is free and open to all with advance registration.

Flowing Forward: Restoring New Jersey’s Rivers
If you have ever boiled a pot of pasta, taken a bubble bath or paddled a freshwater kayak downstream, you have a local river to thank for your water! Join The Nature Conservancy for a fascinating exploration of New Jersey’s rivers—their critical contributions to our daily life and the challenges many face. Our discussion will include a deep-dive into a major Delaware River tributary in New Jersey, as a model for widespread river restoration and renewal. We will examine summary results from a full decade of dam removals, floodplain restorations and ecological monitoring in the waterway, and the beneficial outcomes of that work for people and wildlife, including important migratory fish. Webinar is free and open to all with advance registration.

50X50: Shaping New Jersey’s Final Landscape
Development is vastly outpacing conservation as New Jersey moves toward a time when all acreage in the state is either built or conserved. We need strong public support, bold leadership and quick, strategic action to save our remaining natural and agricultural lands for people and wildlife—before those lands are gone. The Nature Conservancy is leading a sprint to protect 500,000 acres--about 50% of New Jersey’s most important remaining open spaces--by 2050. Join us for a free, informative webinar that shines a light on our state’s open space trends and the “50X50” initiative, including the outsized role of Bobcat Alley, a habitat corridor in New Jersey’s slice of the Appalachian Mountains where wildlife can thrive and people can enjoy the many benefits of being outdoors. Webinar is free and open to all with advance registration.

Fringe Benefits: Saving New Jersey’s Salt Marshes
If you love the Jersey Shore, this webinar is for you! Our beloved Atlantic coast boasts 200,000+ acres of salt marsh that are critically important as flooding protection for coastal homes and communities, and as wildlife habitat, recreation space and an economic driver. Unfortunately, our salt marshes are disappearing—drowning from storms and accelerating sea-level rise. Join us for an important webinar delving into these vital grassy coastal areas—we will review the species, benefits and challenges of New Jersey’s salt marshes, and the innovative nourishment technique being used to restore them. Free and open to all with advance registration.
