The Nature Conservancy (TNC) in Nevada is announcing the appointment of Stefanie Givens as its new Director of Development. With a rich background in environmental education, nonprofit leadership, and fundraising, Stefanie brings a deep passion for conservation and a wealth of experience to her new role.

Stefanie, who holds a Bachelor of Science in Geology, began her career as an environmental educator, working as a naturalist at a nature center in Chico, California. Her early work included developing natural and cultural history programming for K-12 students and collaborating with Indigenous consultants to create educational programming that centered Indigenous history and environmental stewardship. As part of this experience, she worked alongside park rangers and cultural interpreters to collect materials and contribute to the restoration of a traditional cedar bark home at the Yosemite Valley Museum. She has carried these experiences and the perspective gained throughout her career.
Over the years, Stefanie has held leadership roles across several nonprofit organizations, including positions such as Deputy Director and Executive Director of the North Lake Tahoe Historical Society, Director of the Galena Creek Visitor Center, and Director of Development for KUNR Public Radio, as well as at the University of Nevada, Reno’s Colleges of Science, Education and Human Development, and Liberal Arts.

This role at TNC is a dream job, and a return to my roots in conservation. TNC’s mission is in line with so many things I care about, and I’m excited to use my fundraising experience to support TNC’s mission of ensuring that nature and people thrive together.
Outside of work, Stefanie enjoys hiking with her dogs, gardening, and creating nature-inspired art through her small business, My Woodsy Home.
“Stefanie’s ability to connect with communities and donors who share our vision for a resilient and thriving Nevada is invaluable,” said Mauricia Baca, TNC Nevada’s State Director. “We are so excited to have her on our team, and we look forward to the impact she will make in advancing our conservation efforts across Nevada.”
