Bobcat A solitary species, the bobcat is one of the only wildcats to adapt to urban locations, making them the most common in North America. Look for them at Bear Rocks Preserve. © Kent Mason
Virginia Big-Eared Bat The Virginia big-eared bat has ears that are about an inch long. This species hibernates in caves near oak-hickory forests. You can find them at our Brooklyn Heights Preserve. © Dave Riggs

Black Bear Despite its name, WV's state animal the black bear, is not always black - they can be cinnamon, white, beige, and "blue." Look for them at Pike Knob Preserve. © Kent Mason
