New York

Next Stop Nature!

Feeling stuck in the city? Want to explore one of our nature preserves? Here are some natural places you can get to easily via mass transit.

And for shorter trips still in the 5 boroughs, download a handy, wallet-sized guide for 5 Ways to Enjoy Nature in New York City.

Note: All of these preserves are less than 5 miles from the nearest train station, but in some cases a bicycle may be a good alternative to walking. Be sure to purchase a $5 lifetime permit which enables you to bring your bike on the train. Or, consider carpooling with friends!
