The Nature Conservancy in New York released the following statement from Executive Director Bill Ulfelder regarding the New York State Senate’s confirmation of Amanda Lefton as Commissioner of the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC). Amanda Lefton previously served as deputy policy director for The Nature Conservancy in New York.
“The Nature Conservancy applauds the New York State Senate’s confirmation of Amanda Lefton as Commissioner of the Department of Environmental Conservation. A dedicated conservationist, Amanda has a strong track record in natural resource protection and climate mitigation and has the ability and experience to be a great Commissioner. We offer Amanda our heartfelt congratulations.
“Governor Kathy Hochul made an excellent choice in selecting Amanda to lead the DEC. The Nature Conservancy has a long track record of partnering with DEC to conserve the lands and waters critical to New York's public health and economy.
