March 22 at 8:45 a.m.
Preserve staff and volunteer docents will lead a group hike to the northern rim of the Dye Creek canyon, where we will have clear views into a labyrinth of canyons. This strenuous hike involves walking 4 miles at a moderate pace through rocky grasslands and navigating hilly terrain. We will finish the hike by 1:00 p.m.
April 4 at 8:45 a.m.
In a small group led by preserve staff and volunteer docents, we will walk through open grasslands to observe a diverse array of wildflowers, birds and pollinators. There will be very little elevation gain, but the unpaved road will be rocky and potentially muddy. The group will hike 2-3 miles at a leisurely pace. After this hike, guests have the option to hike on the Canyon Trail at their own pace.
Youth under 18 need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Access to the preserve for these free hike days is made possible by TNC through the support of volunteer docents and collaboration with the Resource Conservation District of Tehama County.
We encourage photography for personal use; commercial photography is not permitted.
All hikes at the preserve require advance registration. Registration is free, but space is limited!
