Dale Threatt-Taylor began her career as a soil conservationist with the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Natural Resources Conservation Service. Later, she joined the Wake Soil and Water Conservation District where she was eventually promoted to district director. 

Over the years, Dale has served on many national, state and local boards and committees, including in August 2020 when she made history after being elected Chair of the Soil and Water Conservation Society’s national Board of Directors. She also serves on the Executive Board of Sustain SC and the Board of Visitors of the Nicholas School of the Environment at Duke University.

In 2021, Dale participated as a Fellow in the inaugural class of the Sustainability Leadership Initiative in South Carolina. And in 2022, she completed The Riley Institute’s Diversity Leaders Initiative at Furman University. Most recently, she moved onto North Carolina State University’s Natural Resources Board of Directors in 2023.

Throughout her career, Dale has received many awards, although one caught her by surprise, The Order of the Long Leaf Pine from North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper for her dedicated work in conservation. In 2022, she was also honored to speak at Duke University's Nicholas School of the Environment commencement. 

As The Nature Conservancy's South Carolina executive director, Dale appreciates the opportunity to build new relationships between natural resource conservationists and environmentalists across the nation. She wants people to understand that locally led conservation begins with an individual and that our collective efforts are key to protecting the lands and waters on which all life depends.

Dale received a Bachelor of Science in Conservation from North Carolina State University and a Master of Environmental Management from Duke University.
