On September 16, the United States Senate Agriculture Committee advanced the Farm Bill. In response to this news, Jenny Conner, director of legislative affairs at The Nature Conservancy, issued the following statement.

“The Farm Bill is one of the most important federal investments in America's farms, ranches and forests. As the nation’s largest source of support for voluntary conservation on private lands, it helps provide farmers, ranchers and forest landowners with the tools and resources they need to keep working lands productive, resilient and economically viable while supporting clean water, healthy soil and wildlife habitat.

“We thank members of the Senate Agriculture Committee for their hard work in advancing important policies in this Farm Bill proposal and appreciate Chairman John Boozman’s efforts to advance the bill forward for further consideration.

“As Congress continues its work, we encourage lawmakers to come together to pass a bipartisan, five-year Farm Bill this year that provides certainty for producers and strengthens investments in voluntary conservation programs and solutions that support working lands, rural communities and nature.”
