The Nature Conservancy (TNC) today announced the appointment of Dan Chung to its global Board of Directors.
Dan brings to the Board extensive experience in investment management, organizational leadership and nonprofit governance, as well as a longstanding commitment to TNC’s mission. He serves as a trustee (and former chair) of The Nature Conservancy in New York and as a member of TNC’s Global Campaign Committee.

Dan is Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer of Alger and serves as portfolio manager for several of the firm’s investment strategies. He joined Alger in 1994, was named Chief Investment Officer in 2001 and President in 2003, and became Chief Executive Officer in 2006. Before joining Alger, he was an associate at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP in New York.
Dan earned a J.D. magna cum laude from Harvard Law School, where he served as an editor of the Harvard Law Review, and B.A. and B.S. degrees with distinction from Stanford University. He also earned an LL.M. from New York University, is a CFA charterholder and previously served as a law clerk to U.S. Supreme Court Justice Anthony M. Kennedy.
Throughout his career, Dan has combined business leadership with service to and support for numerous conservation, education and arts organizations. His personal interests include art, scuba diving, biking and skiing.
