Help maintain the coastal grasslands at one of TNC's most iconic preserves! We will work at The Nature Conservancy’s Cascade Head Preserve, overlooking the Salmon River Estuary and the big blue Pacific Ocean. In late June, we can enjoy blooms of many wildflowers.
At this Blackberry Work Party, we will work to remove blackberry, then party with some blackberry sweets. We will be digging out blackberry roots using shovels and other hand tools. Removing this invasive species returns the vegetation structure back to a grassland where native plants can return. The hike to the work location is approximately 4 miles round trip with 500 feet of elevation gain and will involve working on uneven and sometimes steep terrain off trail.
No dogs are allowed on our preserves (except service dogs).
