Event Overview

The Longleaf Blaze at Disney Wilderness Preserve is our inaugural trail running event, Sunday, February 15, 2026. There will be 5k and 10k races, as well as the option to do both. This is a family-friendly event, with educational activities and an optional Gopher Tortoise Fun Run for kids. You can learn more and register at UltraSignup (link coming soon).

This will be a cupless race—please bring your own hydration system to fill at aid stations. The race will not be officially timed. The event will proceed rain or shine. If there are emergency conditions in effect on the day of the event, race organizers will reach out with information about delays or cancellations. Hats and finisher medals will be provided to participants.

Schedule:

  • 10K arrival after 6:30 a.m.
  • 10k start at 7:30 a.m.
  • 5k arrival after 8:30 a.m.
  • 5k start at 9:30 a.m.
  • Race ends: 1 p.m.
  • Site closes: 4:30 p.m.

Breeding pairs of elusive red-cockaded woodpeckers have been established at Disney Wilderness Preserve. Once forced to the brink of extinction, the preserve is able to support the species again.
