Overview
The Nature Conservancy in West Virginia invites you to join us for a guided public hike at the breathtaking Dobbin Slashings Preserve in the heart of the Allegheny Highlands. This 1,800‑acre landscape—once a WWII‑era training ground—is now one of the region’s most important red spruce and high‑elevation habitat restoration sites. Visitors will experience sweeping mountain views, open bogs, regenerating spruce forests, and the early phases of a trail system designed to connect people with this remarkable place. This hike is a perfect opportunity for nature lovers of all ages to explore a wild, evolving landscape and see conservation in action across West Virginia’s high country.
This is a moderate-to-difficult hike.
Registration for this event will open on 8/27.
We will be limiting the number of participants on this hike to 20. If your plans change, and you are no longer able to make it, please let us know so that we can open your spot to the next person in line. Please register by 9/24 so that we can plan accordingly.
