Steven Victor is a native of Palau. He received his MSc in Biology (2002) and BA (1998) from the University of Guam. Steven was a researcher at the Palau International Coral Reef Center for seven years before joining TNC in October 2009 as a Micronesia Conservation Planner. Since January 2016, Steven has served as the Director for the Micronesia Program. He has been taking a leading role for TNC’s Micronesia program in community-based coastal fisheries management, development of alternative livelihoods such as aquaculture, introduction of fisheries data poor stock assessments in Micronesia, leading tuna fisheries reform work with the Palau government, marine protected areas network design, marine protected areas management effectiveness evaluation, and fishers learning exchanges to facilitate sharing of lessons amongst fishermen and conservation practitioners in Micronesia.
