Biography
Nicholas Hendershot is a Forest Ecologist with The Nature Conservancy, based in South Lake Tahoe, California. Nick leads applied research supporting TNC’s Forest Strategy in the central and northern Sierra Nevada region. He combines field studies, remote sensing, machine learning and ecological models to address the impacts of climate change on Sierra Nevada forests and wildlife, with a particular focus on increasing wildfire frequency and drought severity.
Before joining The Nature Conservancy, Nick conducted research at Stanford's Center for Conservation Biology and The Natural Capital Project. There, his research focused on quantifying the impacts of diversified farming practices for biodiversity in Costa Rica.
