Biography
Neel Broker is The Nature Conservancy’s Chief Operating Officer (COO). As COO, Neel leads TNC’s global operations including Finance, Data and Technology, and Talent and People. He oversees TNC’s Investment Team, which manages a $4B+ pool of impact assets. Neel is a key partner to TNC’s Executive Leadership Team on strategy, execution and innovation to achieve TNC’s 2030 conservation and impact goals for the planet.
Neel has substantial experience in leading global mission-oriented enterprises, in impact investing and private equity, and in strategy and transformation.
Prior to TNC, Neel spent 15 years as an executive, entrepreneur and investor in the global education sector. He was the CEO of Laureate Education’s Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific (EMEAA) segment, which grew to become the largest higher education operation outside the Americas. He spent 12 years at Laureate Education in a variety of roles including global head of strategy and corporate development, as well as CEO of India. Neel was the founder of Inspara Partners, which targeted investments in digital education and workforce development. He is board chair of a global healthcare education company and is an advisor to various education ventures.
Neel has lived and worked in the Americas, Europe and Asia. He began his career in investment banking with Deutsche Bank in New York and London, worked in consulting with McKinsey & Company in Southeast Asia and New York, and in private equity with Merrill Lynch in Hong Kong and ICV Partners in New York.
Neel’s love for the outdoors and wildlife grew over the many summers he spent trekking in the Himalayas with family and friends. Growing up in India, Neel earned a Master of Science degree from the Birla Institute of Technology & Science (BITS Pilani) and graduated with an MBA from The Wharton School. He lives in the Washington, DC area.
