Biography
Michelle Johnson is Director of Development for TNC Latin America, a role she began in January 2024. Michelle leads the Latin America Development team in the design and implementation of TNC’s fundraising strategy to unlock conservation and sustainable development at a scale that has a significant impact on our 2030 goals.
Michelle holds a Master of Arts in political economy from the University of Essex and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and international business from DePauw University. She has a distinguished career in designing and leading transformative fundraising initiatives for higher education and not-for-profit organizations. Michelle is passionate about developing a sustainable Latin America, where she has spent most of her career raising money in and for the region.
Most recently Michelle served as the executive director of development for the University of Miami School of Law. From 2004 to 2022, Michelle held several leadership positions at INCAE Business School (Instituto Centroamericano de Administración de Empresas), the last as director of strategic partnerships.
In her free time, Michelle loves to be outdoors—gardening, walking, kayaking and paddleboarding—and she also enjoys yoga and pilates. After 20+ years living in Central America, she now resides in Miami with her family.
