Joni is currently serving as the Interim Conservation Director for The Nature Conservancy. Prior to this role, Joni was the Science and Strategy Director for the North America Region of TNC since 2012, where she oversaw the development and management of the region’s priority strategies. Joni joined The Nature Conservancy in 2001 as the Wyoming Science Director. She held that position for 6 years before moving on to Regional Scientist for the Rocky Mountain Region, Deputy Director of Central Science, and Science Director for the North America Region. Joni received the One Conservancy award in 2017 for her leadership in advancing the organization’s updated conservation approach. Prior to joining TNC, Joni worked in environmental consulting and for the US Forest Service. She holds a Ph.D. in Ecology from Utah State University, was born and raised in Colorado, and currently resides in Boulder.
