Biography
Joni is the Global Director of Conservation Programs in the Chief Conservation Office of the Nature Conservancy. In this role, she leads the team that provides the framework, approach and tools for global and regional staff to maximize conservation impact.
Prior to this position, Joni held multiple roles at The Nature Conservancy. For the past 8 years she was the Science and Strategy Director for the North America Region. Joni has also held the role of Science Director - North America Region, Deputy Director - Central Science, and Regional Scientist - Rocky Mountain Region. Joni joined the Nature Conservancy in 2001 as the Wyoming Science Director and held that position for 6 years.
Joni received the One Conservancy award in 2017 for her leadership in advancing the organization’s updated conservation approach. Prior to joining TNC, Joni worked in environmental consulting and for the US Forest Service. She holds a Ph.D. in Ecology from Utah State University, was born and raised in Colorado, and currently resides in Boulder.
