Biography

Joe Keenan was previously Vice President and Managing Director of TNC’s Latin America Region, leading a staff of more than 320 people in 16 countries from 2009 - 2014. From 2014-2017, he served as Executive Vice President, and is currently a Senior Advisor to the President and member of the Executive Team, focusing on working with the Latin America Conservation Council, formed in 2011.

Prior, he held several other key positions within TNC, including Managing Director of the South America Conservation Region, Southern Mexico Director, Director of Conservation Strategy for the Brazil Division, and Manager of the Atlantic Forest Conservation Program. After attaining a BA in Political Science from Swarthmore College, he worked as a journalist and magazine editor in Mexico for nearly a decade, penning thousands of articles on Latin American politics, economics, and the environment. He was a co-winner of TNC’s Innovation Award in 2001.
