Amy Holtshouse is the Director of Conservation for The Nature Conservancy in Ohio, where she directs and coordinates programs and initiatives across Ohio. She coordinates with key partners from public and private organizations to identify and implement strategies to improve habitats and water quality in Ohio.

Amy believes that we need to better manage nutrients and water runoff on our agricultural lands and in cities. As a native of Ohio, where natural areas have been altered significantly since European settlement, Amy recognizes the need for focus on restoration and management in order to improve the resilience, connectivity and health of lands and waters.

Prior to joining the Conservancy, Amy was executive director of the Chagrin River Watershed Partners, where she was responsible for providing technical assistance to CRWP member communities on flood control, erosion control, water quality protection zoning code updates, development and tracking implementation of watershed plans, NPDES Phase II Storm Water Management Programs, and multiple dam removal, stream restoration and stormwater retrofit projects.

Amy’s area of expertise includes engaging both traditional and unconventional conservation partners to protect and restore our natural streams, wetlands and floodplains; promoting green infrastructure through better design and local community codes; and watershed planning.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts in zoology and environmental studies from Ohio Wesleyan University and a Masters of Science in environmental science from Indiana University’s School of Public and Environmental Affairs.

Amy lives on the west side of Cleveland, where she enjoys dancing and gardening at the community garden she spearheaded.
