Biography

Aki (Ahmad) Baihaki is the Ocean Innovation Challenge Advisor at The Nature Conservancy. He brings over two decades of experience at the intersection of technology, ocean conservation, and sustainable finance. Prior to this role, he led sustainable finance work at Yayasan Konservasi Alam Nusantara (YKAN), TNC’s country partner in Indonesia, where he developed blended financing facilities to support MSMEs and nature-positive enterprises.

Educated in IT and business at the National University of Singapore and Leiden University, Aki specializes in aligning tech-enabled innovation with finance models, public–private partnerships, and ecosystem-based solutions. From innovative finance tools to marine tech, his work is rooted in impact, data, and equity—turning blue ambition into practical investment ecosystems.

Aki began his career as an app developer before spending nearly a decade in Belgium as a tech consultant for the European Commission, telecoms, and banking sectors. Driven to apply digital solutions to global challenges, Aki returned to Indonesia to lead Global Fishing Watch’s Indonesian chapter—advancing satellite data and fisheries transparency in collaboration with the government. He later joined the World Bank as Senior Oceans Specialist, focusing on blue economy development, coastal community resilience, and sustainable livelihood financing. Prior to joining YKAN, he was also the Director of Sustainable Seascapes at Konservasi Indonesia.
