Together, we can mālama Hawaiʻi for generations to come.

We know that conservation is a long-term proposition, and The Nature Conservancy will be here to see it through. We see a future where restoration of natural systems—rooted in Indigenous worldviews and science—creates a flourishing Hawaiʻi.  We invite you to join us in creating one future where people and nature thrive together. TNC is here to be your philanthropic partner and a steward for your legacy. It’s in our nature.

Many Reasons to Give. Many Ways to Give.

IT IS AN HONOR TO CARRY THIS RESPONSIBILITY (2:13) The community nonprofit Kākoʻo ʻŌiwi is dedicated to restoring cultural connections between the land and kanaka (people). Thanks to flexible donor gifts, TNC is able to partner with them to restore wetlands and loʻi kalo at Heʻeia.

Leaving a gift in your will or trust is one of the most popular ways of giving to TNC. In fact, legacy gifts make up more than 20% of the funds we raise each year. As a Legacy Club member, your gift will help protect the places you love for generations to come. Learn more about some of the projects that Legacy gifts support, from protecting Hawaiian forest birds to replanting coral reefs, by watching the videos on this page.

IT’S GOING TO MAKE THE DIFFERENCE (1:48) With the support of donors, TNC is working to replant corals to restore Hawaiian reefs. It’s a critical time for this critical work, and it’s also a moment of hope.

With a gift in your will or trust or by beneficiary designation, you’ll enjoy the following:

  • You retain control of your assets during your lifetime.
  • You can provide for loved ones and for a cause important to you.
  • There is no minimum gift; you can leave a gift of any size.
  • You may realize estate tax savings or reduce tax burdens for your heirs.
  • You can make your gift in honor or memory of someone special who inspired your love of nature.

There are many ways to give a legacy gift, such as naming TNC in your retirement plan, gifting real estate or stocks, creating a donor-advised fund and more. No matter the size, these gifts do remarkable things for our world.

MY DREAM IS SIMPLY TO SEE ALL OF US THRIVE (1:45) After Keoki Kanakaokai personally witnessed the extinction of the ʻIʻiwi on the island of Oʻahu, he was inspired to pursue a career in conservation. Today Keoki is part of TNC’s effort to save critically endangered Hawaiian forest birds through both habitat restoration and innovative science.
NOTES FROM THE FIELD: PALMYRA ATOLL (6:49) On the edge of the map, 1,000 miles south of Hawaiʻi, there is an island where nature rules. TNC’s Palmyra Atoll is a conservation innovation hub and a hope spot, home to lush tropical forests and some of the world’s most pristine coral reefs.

Because of the support and the gifts that somebody thought of many years ago—because it was their idea to care for this world—we are able today to work with community partners to ensure that future generations will be able to live and thrive.
