Biography

Rich Cavanaugh is the land protection manager for The Nature Conservancy in Massachusetts. With a rich background in land conservation and the local food movement, Rich brings more than a decade of experience counseling individuals and nonprofits. Through his law firm, Common Grow, LLC, based in Petersham, Massachusetts, he has handled real estate transactions, farm succession planning, business formation and regulatory compliance.

Before joining TNC, Rich practiced at Gallagher & Cavanaugh, LLP in Lowell, Massachusetts, where he focused on civil litigation and corporate client counseling.

Rich and his wife, Annie, are dedicated to renovating their 18th-century farmhouse, a project he notes will only be complete when he signs the deed over to someone else. Rich also serves as the Chair of the Petersham Advisory Finance Committee and is on the Board of Directors at the East Quabbin Land Trust.
