The Bogue Chitto (McWilliams Tract) consists of 1,317 acres with approximately 3 miles of river frontage along the Bogue Chitto River. The tract, which supports fishing, deer, and water fowl hunting is located just south of Sun, Louisiana.

Primary Conservation Objective

Maintain a habitat free from sand and gravel mining, which would most likely negatively impact the adjacent forested wetlands and downstream fisheries.

Biodiversity Highlights

The tract is within the Pearl River Basin, which supports at least 6 globally-rare aquatic species, is a habitat to Louisiana black bear, and is considered one of the most important stopover areas for trans-Gulf migrant songbirds.
