Volunteer Docents at River Fork Ranch

The Nature Conservancy in Nevada is seeking volunteers for a new docent program at River Fork Ranch Preserve in Genoa. Docents will serve the community by greeting visitors and helping to organize educational events at the preserve.

Interested volunteers should apply here. Up to 20 applicants will be accepted for the first year of the program. Accepted candidates will need to attend a two-day training at the preserve on April 15 and 16 and commit to working 3-4 Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and helping to organize one educational event per year.

Located where the east and west forks of the Carson River meet, River Fork Ranch Preserve is both a nature preserve and a working cattle operation. The ranch’s riparian corridor and patchwork of pastures, meadows and wetlands support a robust and diverse wildlife population. The Whit Hall Interpretive Center is the hub of TNC’s community outreach and education efforts along the Carson River and is open for school visits and other scheduled events and activities throughout the year.

Applications must be submitted by April 1, 2023 for candidates to be considered for the program.
