Weed Wrangles
Conrad Station Savanna, Indiana
Join us every fourth Friday of the month (from April thru October) to focus our attention on 15 acres at Conrad Station Savanna.
The focus of these Weed Wrangles© will be to remove undesirable, non-native, invasive plants in an effort to make more suitable, desirable habitat for the red-headed woodpeckers (and other species) who prefer open oak woodlands with large open areas between the trees.
The Friday dates are:
- April 24
- May 22
- June 26
- July 24
- August 28
- September 25
- October 23
Through these family-friendly volunteer workdays, we strive to have fun working together to make the woods a more open, easy flying place for our woodpecker colleagues. The goal of these monthly workdays is to transform the overgrown woodland by removing invasive plants to create a flower-filled savanna. We can’t wait to see the progress this year!
Meet at the Conrad Station Savanna Parking lot, located along the gravel road 725 N at Conrad Station Savanna. The parking area is at the bend in the road.
Gloves, eye protection, tools and snacks will be provided.
