There are few locations on the Santa Clara River that are accessible to the public. Now with the opening of the Santa Clara River Preserve, TNC has provided a beautiful space for outdoor education, community gatherings, wildlife viewing and hiking. On the preserve we want to give everyone a chance to connect with the dynamic Santa Clara River.

The Nature Conservancy’s Santa Clara River and Coast Project hosts monthly guided nature hikes along the Santa Clara River. These hikes are led by professional naturalist and educator Amy Davis, who will teach you about the local flora and fauna of the Santa Clara River. This is a great opportunity to connect with other nature enthusiasts and with nature!

Check out the Ventura Sierra Club’s meetup as they regularly host volunteer events at the Santa Clara River Preserve.
Event date & time: Recurring every 3rd Sunday of the month from 9 a.m.-12 p.m.; first event is on January 18th
Location: TNC’s Santa Clara River Preserve: 1368 Mission Rock Road, Santa Paula, CA 93060
Volunteer work: This volunteer opportunity will include doing stewardship work around the Santa Clara River Preserve, which may include trail work, vegetation clearance, trash and debris clearance, weeding and general upkeep tasks around the preserve.
What to bring/wear: sun-protective clothing, closed-toed shoes and water
