Overview
In 2017, The Nature Conservancy (TNC) received an unprecedented opportunity to acquire a stunning property on the North Point Peninsula. Here you’ll find 1,384 acres of cedar forests, unique wetlands and meadows that harbor diverse plants and wildlife. At the end of 2022, we transferred ownership of the North Point property to Huron Pines—a local conservation organization—who will protect and manage the area in perpetuity.
In celebration of this milestone, Huron Pines is coordinating tours of the North Point property for anyone in the community interested in learning about the area. Buses will transport visitors from the Great Lakes Maritime Heritage Center to the property where TNC and Huron Pines staff will be on hand to answer questions about the economic, ecological and educational significance of the property.
