Friends of the Sands is welcoming summer on Wednesday, June 21, with an all-ages walk to celebrate the natural wonders on the Grace Teninga Discovery Trail at Kankakee Sands.

We expect to see the prickly pear cactus with their stunning yellow blooms and also the gorgeous state endangered regal fritillary butterflies dancing over the prairie.

Thanks to Friends of the Sands for hosting in partnership with The Nature Conservancy.

  • Youth are welcome to attend with their parents.
  • Bring water and be ready to get some sun!
  • The Grace Teninga Discovery Trail is rated as easy and is about 2 miles long.
