Biography

Dr. Zhu Da is The Nature Conservancy’s China Country Director, responsible for running the China Program with the support of the China Board. Dr. Zhu brings extensive experience to this role, with a background in multilateral development banks, academia and the private sector.

His credentials include:

  • More than two decades as a senior economist and team leader at the World Bank, supporting its mission in East Asia, South Asia, Africa, and Europe and Central Asia
  • Adjunct professor at Renmin University of China (Beijing), where he teaches classes on green finance
  • Senior role at Goldman Sachs Group
  • Previously worked with the Ministry of Ecology and Environment of the People’s Republic of China
  • Dr. Zhu earned a Ph.D. in economics from Renmin University of China, a master's in public administration from Harvard Kennedy School and bachelor's degrees in environmental engineering and industry management engineering from Dalian University of Technology.
