Biography

Dr. Taylor Ganz leads the science program for The Nature Conservancy in Idaho, where she develops and applies science to advance conservation across the state and the broader Western U.S. Her work is highly collaborative and spans climate change and renewable energy, forest and wildfire management, the sagebrush biome, agriculture, salmon recovery, and land and water protection.

Prior to joining TNC, she worked as a research scientist at the University of Washington and as a contractor with the U.S. Geological Survey. Her research focused on the interactions between large mammals, the impacts of recreation and the effects of changing snow conditions on ecosystems.

Taylor holds a Ph.D. in environmental science from the University of Washington, a master’s degree in environmental science from Yale University and bachelor’s degrees in physics and mechanical engineering. Before her scientific career, she worked extensively as an outdoor guide and educator and remains an avid trail runner, skier and fly-fisher outside of work.
