Biography

Sarah Murdock is the Senior Director of United States Land and Water Policy at The Nature Conservancy. In this role, she oversees the organization’s work with federal government agencies in the U.S., such as partnering with the agencies to implement new federal policies and programs and defend existing policies.

During her 20-year career at TNC, she has had several leadership roles related to policy development, advocacy, communications and execution of projects—all to help advance the organization’s climate adaptation, land and water policy work.

Prior to coming to TNC, Murdock was a consultant who helped environmental and energy clients develop strategic solutions to government, regulatory and community outreach challenges. She also served on the staff of U.S. Senator John F. Kerry of Massachusetts, where she focused on environmental and energy policy.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental science from Colby College and a master’s degree in urban and environmental policy from Tufts University. She completed the Sea Education Association semester of independent oceanographic research aboard a 100-foot schooner and currently serves on the Executive Board of the Trustees for that program.
