Biography
Meghan Bogaerts is the Senior Conservation Analyst for the Conservation Science and Planning Team at TNC Colorado. As a spatial analyst and conservation planner, Meghan applies our science to the practical questions of conservation: Where? Why? How much? She enjoys the great variety of a day at TNC, performing prioritization analyses, leading the geospatial team and dabbling in cartography. Meghan is also a member of the TNC-wide Geospatial Leadership Council, working toward better data governance and management practices for the organization.
Prior to her time with TNC, Meghan worked with Playa Lakes Joint Venture using spatial analysis to accelerate conservation delivery work on private lands throughout the western Great Plains. She has also worked in cultural resource planning for the City of Detroit, studied greenhouse gas emissions on cattle ranches in Brazil, and worked with developers and urban planners across the country on the first national standard for sustainable neighborhood design.
Meghan holds a B.A. in English and history from the University of Illinois and both an M.S. in natural resources and a Masters of Public Policy from the University of Michigan. Meghan has worked across the full spectrum of urban-to-rural places and sees no reason why the peaceful coexistence of humanity and nature cannot happen in our lifetime. Yes, she is an optimist.
