Biography
Katie is a human geographer and social scientist responsible for leading the Science Team for The Nature Conservancy in Maine. Her work focuses on supporting the development of equitable conservation strategies and programming across the chapter's focal conservation areas by facilitating collaborative approaches, evidenced-based research, and the integration of diverse knowledges.
Prior to joining The Nature Conservancy, Katie served as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow with the Cornell Atkinson Center for Sustainability and was a U.S.-Norway Fulbright Scholar at the University of Oslo. As a researcher, she has led a variety of collaborative and participatory projects addressing resource governance, community resilience, and rural livelihood adaptation in the U.S. West, Nepal, and Norway. She also spent several years working as a field educator for the Teton Science Schools in Jackson, Wyoming and ran a Nordic ski tour program in Grand Teton National Park. Katie received a Master of Science degree from the Energy and Resources Group at the University of California, Berkeley in 2016 and a PhD in Ecology and Environmental Science from Montana State University in 2020.
