About Jim

Jim O’Brien provides leadership across The Nature Conservancy’s conservation, land management and policy work in New Hampshire. He ensures that teams have the needed resources to implement projects effectively. His work supports strong partnerships and strategies to align conservation and funding approaches to achieve lasting outcomes.

Jim coordinates internal teams and collaborates with partners across nonprofit, business and government sectors to advance conservation and policy priorities and opportunities.

Prior to joining TNC in 2011, Jim was the founding executive director of an environmental lobbying and political action organization and has served as Development Director for several public health nonprofits. He has held leadership roles in political campaigns and has been an elected official for 18 years on his local school board and select board. A New Hampshire native, Jim is teaching himself to play guitar, loves going to punk shows, and maintains his vintage 1790s home with his wife and kids.
