Tallgrass Bison: Pride of Pawhuska

The bison herd at Joseph H. Williams Tallgrass Prairie Preserve–now over 2,000 strong–is among the largest conservation herds in North America. Tallgrass Initiative Director Bob Hamilton has cared for the herd since their initial release on the property in 1993, and recently spoke with PBS for an episode of Wild Hope, a digital PBS NATURE series featuring the movers and shakers who are restoring nature in new and innovative ways and making conservation happen around the world.
