Volunteer

Workdays

With thousands of acres of protected land to manage across the state, volunteers are needed to help our Habitat Management staff.  Participating in a volunteer workday is a satisfying and rewarding way to meet the staff and experience the places and species we protect in Pennsylvania.

Saturday, May 28th – 9:00 AM
Grassland Restoration and Preserve Maintenance at the New Texas Barrens
Please assist with grassland restoration and trail clearing activities at the New Texas Barrens (near Peach Bottom, PA in Lancaster County).

Saturday, June 4th – 9:00 AM
HWA Treatment at the Woodbourne Forest and Wildlife Preserve
Please assist with treating hemlocks to protect them from the hemlock wooly adelgid in the Woodbourne Forest (Dimock, PA in Susquehanna County).

Saturday, June 11th – 9:00 AM
Invasive Plant Removal at the Mt. Holly Marsh Preserve
Please assist with clearing Japanese Barberry from the forest understory at the Mt. Holly Marsh Preserve (Mt. Holly Springs, PA in Cumberland County).

Monday, June 20th – 9:00 AM
Invasive Plant Removal at the West Branch Forest
Please assist with clearing Japanese Knotweed at the West Branch Forest (near Hyner, PA in Clinton County).

Saturday, June 25th – 9:00 AM
Grassland Restoration at the Chrome Barrens Preserve
Please assist with grassland restoration at the Chrome Barrens Preserve (near Oxford, PA in Chester County).  

Wednesday, June 29th – 9:00 AM
Preserve Maintenance Workday on Butternut Island
Join us on Butternut Island in the upper Delaware River (near Damascus, PA in Wayne County) to assist with cutting and clearing Japanese knotweed.

Thursday, July 28th – Saturday, July 30th
Summer Campout at the West Branch Forest
Join us at the West Branch Forest (near Hyner, PA in Clinton County) to assist with follow up Japanese knotweed management, Prowl the Sproul activities and other preserve maintenance projects.

Wednesday, August 3rd – 9:00 AM (Rain date set for Thursday, August 4th)
Preserve Maintenance Workday on Butternut Island
