Denny McGrath began his conservation career with The Nature Conservancy in Indiana, working first in field conservation before holding the position of State Director for 12 years. During that time he also served as Interim Director of the Great Lakes Program and as Acting State Director in Michigan.
In addition to his work for The Nature Conservancy in Indiana, he has served as State Director in Connecticut and Director of the Canada/Midwest Division.
In 2005 he became President and Chief Executive Officer of The Western Pennsylvania Conservancy, one of the country’s largest land trusts. He returned to The Nature Conservancy in Michigan in 2007, where he served as Assistant State Director and Director of Conservation before taking over as Director of the Great Lakes Project in 2012.
McGrath was the first McCluskey Fellow at Yale University’s School of Forestry and Environmental Studies. He received his undergraduate degree from Purdue University and Masters degrees in Environmental Science and Geology from Indiana University.
Denny’s interests and activities include wilderness canoeing, bicycling, woodworking, fishing, and hunting.
