Biography
Toni Hardesty is the Western and Canada Division Director for the Nature Conservancy. In her capacity as Division Director she leads the Division (made up of 11 state programs and Canada) to advance The Nature Conservancy’s highest priorities, ensure execution of division-wide projects, facilitate cross-boundary work, raise funds, engage volunteer trustees, and develop leaders.
Prior to serving as Division Director, Toni was the Idaho State Director overseeing the Conservancy’s work around Idaho, focusing on collaborative conservation projects that benefit nature and people.
Prior to assuming her post with the Conservancy, Toni served as director of Idaho’s Department of Environmental Quality appointed by three separate governors. In this role, she was responsible for leading efforts to preserve the quality of Idaho’s air, land and water for a variety of uses and enjoyment now and in the future.
Toni has also worked for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and in the private sector as an environmental consultant working with and assisting private industry, government agencies and non-profits on a wide range of environmental issues. She has a bachelor’s in Environmental Health from Boise State University.
Toni and her husband Doug are outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy backpacking, hiking, skiing and exploring special places.
