As part of an ongoing commitment to end deforestation, Avon and the Avon Foundation for Women have supported The Nature Conservancy’s reforestation efforts in the Atlantic Forest of Brazil since 2010. The Conservancy is proud to be one of Avon’s environmental partners, and has successfully leveraged support throughout the region to help protect and restore forests, improve water quality for millions of people, and mitigate the effects of climate change.
Over the last five years, Avon has helped the Conservancy and its partners plant and protect more than 4.5 million trees through the Plant a Billion Trees Program. Our work together has been focused in three key locations in Brazil: the State of Espirito Santo State, Anhembi and Porto Feliz municipalities in the State of Sao Paulo.
Avon’s support also enabled the Conservancy to advance scientific monitoring in key areas, helping to supply data needed to develop improved forest management plans. These plans were then used to enhance the Conservancy’s work with FIBRIA, one of the largest pulp and paper companies in the world. FIBRIA is also one of the biggest investors in Brazilian forest restoration and through its work with the Conservancy has started the restoration process in over 18,500 acres of forest owned by the company.
Avon’s Healthy Forests, Beautiful World reforestation initiative raises funds through the sale of special, environmentally conscious fundraising products in more than 50 counties, sold by the more than 6 million Avon Sales Representatives and online at Avon eCommerce sites.
Avon, the company for women, is a leading global beauty company, with $10 billion in annual revenue. The company’s founding principles address its role and impact in the world, driven by the promise, dating back to 1886, to "contribute to the well-being of society and the environment in which it functions."
