2017 marks the 10th Anniversary of The Nature Conservancy's partnership with the Heritage Conservancy to commemorate the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service in the Greater Philadelphia area. Over the past decade, dozens of volunteers have gathered in honor of the holiday to give back to their community and assist with clean-up activities at our Bristol Marsh Preserve. This year, in honor of this special anniversary and due to the unseasonably mild weather, close to 100 volunteers attended the event. Thank you to all of those who participated!
Nearly 100 volunteers signed in at this volunteer event.
They broke out into groups and received their assignments.
Volunteers walked throughout the preserve to collect garbage.
They personally hauled trash and recyclables to a central location.
They came across some interesting items in their clean-up travels.
They also found some time to explore.
In fact, getting out in nature was another reason to gather!
By the end of the day, our volunteers felt proud of their accomplishments.
The Bristol Marsh Preserve was cleaner and healthier as a result of their efforts.
Thank you to all of our MLK, Jr. Day of Service volunteers!
