Catherine Macdonald,

“As a native Oregonian, my commitment to conservation grew from the opportunity to explore and experience our great state. The Nature Conservancy’s grounding in science and collaborative approach are what keep me inspired every day.”
Cathy got started in conservation as a college intern for The Nature Conservancy. Post college, Cathy was hired as the Oregon land steward where she built one of the Conservancy’s strongest science and stewardship programs in the country. In 1996, Cathy took on the leadership of Oregon’s conservation team as the Director of Conservation and served in this role for 20 years. Today she is the Director of Policy and External Affairs, where she leads the Chapter’s policy, government relations, outreach and engagement efforts.

Cathy holds a Master of Science from Oregon State University. In 2005 she received the Environmental Law Institute’s National Wetlands Award for conservation and restoration.
