Ecolab Foundation

Advancing Freshwater Conservation

The Ecolab Foundation and the company’s employees are longtime supporters of The Nature Conservancy.  Over the past 25 years, the company’s vital contributions have helped protect Minnesota’s lands and waters .

In 2014, Ecolab through its Foundation's Solutions for Life global giving program, committed to extending its support globally with a pledge to contribute $2 million over three years to further advance the Conservancy's work to secure and restore key freshwater sources around the world.

In addition to Ecolab’s interest and support of water conservation initiatives, in 2013 the company contributed $200,000 to the Conservancy’s “Nature Now” campaign for land and water conservation efforts in Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota. Contributions to this campaign have enabled the Conservancy to protect and restore hundreds of thousands of acres of forest and grasslands across these three states.

Ecolab was also an early supporter of the Conservancy’s landmark efforts to restore prairies and wetlands at Glacial Ridge in northwest Minnesota, which was completed in 2012, establishing Glacial Ridge as a national wildlife refuge that helps protect drinking water for area residents, research opportunities for schoolchildren, students and scientists and habitat for prairie chickens, sand hill cranes and other wildlife.

Ecolab employees have volunteered at Conservancy sites in Texas, Illinois, North Carolina and Minnesota. A vital part of the grant is to expand Ecolab employee volunteerism with the Conservancy around the globe. Additional collaboration with Ecolab water experts has taken place on Nature Conservancy global water projects. Ecolab is also a member of the Conservancy's Business Council.
