Meet the Experts

Matt Williams

Director of Conservation Programs

A graduate of Alma College in Alma, Michigan, Matt has spent the last 17 years working for The Nature Conservancy, first with its Texas Chapter and then the Indiana Chapter since 2001. He’s done it all, from studying endangered bird populations to leading prescribed burns. Prior to assuming his new role, Matt oversaw two of the Indiana Chapter’s signature programs: the Western Lake Erie Basin and the Wabash River.

Matt is a graduate of the Indiana Agriculture Leadership program and in 2014 he led a multi-state Conservancy project to develop a conservation strategy for protecting nearly a million acres of grassland in South Dakota and Montana. Most recently Matt authored the newly published book Indiana State Parks: A Centennial Celebration, where he not only wrote, but photographed every picture in this remarkable book.
