Kids Need Nature
In today’s fast-paced world, people have become disconnected from nature. Children today spend half as much time outside as kids did 20 years ago, and only 6 percent of kids between 9-13 play outside on their own in a typical week.
Meanwhile, studies show that time in nature makes kids healthier and happier—children who play outside are more physically active, more creative in their play, less aggressive and show better concentration.
At the Conservancy, we know that a key to caring for the environment as an adult is experiencing nature as a child. That's why we're encouraging kids of all ages to get out and experience the great outdoors.
Whether you visit one of our preserves, participate in Arizona Project WET or just take a hike, take the time to get outside and connect kids with Arizona's incredible natural heritage.
