Places We Protect

Great bear rainforest

The 19-million-acre Great Bear Rainforest is part of the Emerald Edge — the largest coastal temperate rainforest on Earth. On February 1, 2016, the final Great Bear Rainforest Agreement was signed between First Nations and the British Columbia government, permanently conserving 19 million acres of Pacific coast between Vancouver Island and southeast Alaska.

Clayoquot Sound

Clayoquot Sound is a stunning mosaic of emerald valleys, clustered islands and ancient trees along British Columbia’s southern coast. We work with First Nations to create a shared vision of sustainable management that blends economy, nature and local stewardship.

Boreal Forest

We work with First Nations, governments, and industries to conserve millions of acres of wildlife habitat while supporting a sustainable forestry sector.

Northwest Territories

The Nature Conservancy is helping First Nation leaders blend cutting-edge conservation science with traditional knowledge to create new protected areas.
