The Nature Conservancy (TNC) — a global conservation organization dedicated to conserving the lands and waters on which all life depends — today announced David Rice is joining its Michigan Board of Trustees. Rice is the Founder of New Home Star, a leading sales management and consulting firm that partners with some of the largest home builders in the United States and Canada.
“David Rice has a passion for giving back and I am thrilled to welcome him to our Michigan Board of Trustees,” said Helen Taylor, TNC State Director in Michigan. “His entrepreneurial spirit, skills, and expertise will be an asset to our board, and I have no doubt he will hit the ground running as TNC works to create innovative solutions to the toughest environmental challenges in Michigan.”
Rice is an active philanthropist and is Founder of the charitable organizations Debbie’s Closet™ and the GEM Project, which encourages servitude and charitable giving through volunteerism and company-funded donations within New Home Star. In 2019, David was honored with the Abundance Award from the non-profit organization, First Story, which is presented to the most influential individuals and companies whose giving spirit has made a significant impact.
“The Nature Conservancy is doing incredible work here in Michigan, across the country, and around the world to protect our land and water, and I am very excited to join TNC’s Michigan Board of Trustees,” Rice said. “This Board is filled with bright and gifted people from all walks of life, and I am eager to join them and help make a difference.”
Since New Home Star’s inception in 2008, the company has disrupted the industry by redefining the way new homes are sold with an award-winning approach, becoming the largest private seller of new homes in America. Rice is a home building expert, sales and marketing authority and highly acclaimed entrepreneur. Prior to New Home Star, David spent nearly a decade with Pulte Homes. There, he set the state record for the most new homes sold in Michigan in a single year.
Rice currently serves as the chairman of the YPO Orlando Chapter and is an active board member of the Liberty University School of Business. He is married to his junior high school sweetheart and has three children. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan and Harvard Business School.
